Our Team
Michel Bernier, PhD
Michel is the founder and managing partner of Pivot. He specializes in strategy, business model redesign and organizational transformation and focuses primarily on the financial services, insurance, and health and life sciences sectors.

Drawing on more than 25 years of consulting experience in Canada, the US and Europe, Michel has advised CEOs and senior leaders on topics of strategy and business transformation. He has successfully led a number of major business transformations involving mergers, acquisitions and alliances, effective organizational design implementation, new product and market development, strategy implementation, innovation business design, elaboration of go-to-market and distribution capabilities, product development acceleration, and implementation of innovation and organizational and operational effectiveness programs.

Prior to founding Pivot, Michel has been Canadian Practice Leader and senior partner at Oliver Wyman Delta, senior vice president of strategic initiatives at Bell Canada and senior partner at SECOR.

A dedicated member of his community, Michel is actively involved in a number of nonprofit organizations as a Board member. He also serves as a member of the Board of Governors and pro bono consultant for major health care delivery institutions in Montreal.

Michel holds a PhD in industrial & organizational psychology from the Université de Montréal.
Jean-François Gagnon
Jean-François Gagnon is a founding partner of Pivot. He focuses on strategy, operations and performance management for the financial services and insurance industries.

During his 18-year career, he has worked in various business sectors within the financial industry, including insurance, real estate, asset management, credit cards, retail banking, prepayments and mortgage insurance for major international financial institutions in Canada, the United States and Europe. He has led a number of major projects, including the development of growth and distribution strategies for major banks and insurers, the development of new distribution models for wealth management, the spin-off of a major financial division focused on payments, the development of an integrated operating model to support the scaling of operations for a major asset manager, the develop of risk management organizations and frameworks and strategic review of a large Canadian bank’s Capital Markets division.

Prior to joining Pivot, Jean-François was with Oliver Wyman, where he worked in Financial Services and in the Organizational Transformation practice. Jean-François had previously worked as an investment and group benefits actuary at Mercer.

Jean-François is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and holds a Bachelor’s degree with honours from Concordia University.
Édith Luc
Dr. Luc is a partner and senior advisor of Pivot. An internationally recognized author and speaker on the topic of shared and collaborative leadership, she specializes in the development and implementation of collaborative culture and strategies that drive business transformations and improve organizational performance.

With more than 25 years of experience, Edith specializes in organizational assessment and development, executive selection and education, leadership development and the creation of collaborative working practices and culture. She works with executive, operational, functional and project teams to improve their effectiveness and accelerate change by improving the overall maturity level of their collaboration. She has worked with a wide variety of leading national and international organizations in different industries, such as Bombardier, Chanel, Danone, Desjardins, École Polytechnique, Hydro-Quebec, Michelin, Orange, RioTinto-Alcan and Zimmer.

Dr. Luc has published four books, many editorials and numerous articles on leadership, including Le leadership partagé (2004, 2011, PUM), La pratique du leadership partagé (2013, PUM) and Unleashing Leadership Potential (2009). Her fifth book is due out in spring 2015.

Edith has a PhD in social psychology from the Université de Montréal. She is a former associate professor at HEC Montréal’s Chaire de leadership Pierre-Péladeau. She has served as President of the Collège de Montreal and has taught at the Université de Montreal, the Université de Sherbrooke and the University of Ottawa.
Kathy Megyery
Kathy Megyery is partner at Pivot responsible for the Pharma & Payers practice. She specializes in strategy, market access and policy design for the healthcare and life sciences sectors with over 25 years-experience both as a consultant and a pharmaceutical industry executive.

Over the last 10 years, she has held various roles within Sanofi Canada and Sanofi North America focused on developing and implementing strategies to foster the organization’s leadership in innovation, access and prevention. She was Vice-President Strategy & Policy and a member of the Canadian Executive Committee from 2006 to 2012. In 2012, she was appointed Vice-President Public Affairs for North America reporting into the U.S. Head Office. During her tenure at Sanofi, she successfully spearheaded strategic initiatives to capture opportunities around the emergence of specialty pharma, the increased focus on wellness and prevention as well as the growing role of payers. During the past year, she developed the payer strategy to support the commercial launch of a new vaccine.

Previously, she was partner at SECOR focusing on healthcare and Life sciences. During her 15-year tenure at SECOR, she specialized in strategic planning, working with senior management of large organizations to develop new strategies to help them deal with changing market conditions and competitive threats. She was also responsible for developing and deploying specific strategic initiatives related to growth, diversification and business model transformation in the healthcare industry.

Kathy holds an MBA from McGill University and a Master’s degree in Economics from Concordia University.
Olivier Foussard
Olivier is a Partner of Pivot specializing in the development and implementation of business transformation and performance improvement strategies in financial services firms.

Olivier has over 20 years of experience working with financial services institutions including major retail & commercial banks, insurance companies, asset managers and personal finance/credit card issuers in Canada and the United States. Drawing on his experience in program management, risk management and IT, he advises C-Suite executives on the development of key strategic initiatives with meaningful impact on organizational performance. He also leads transformation efforts on their behalf, delivering lasting change and ensuring that initiatives are delivering targeted benefits. Specifically, he has been involved in a number of different strategic initiatives such as:

  • The definition and deployment of large-scale performance improvement programs including initiative prioritization, monitoring and benefits tracking.
  • Coordinating the development and rollout of a multi-year growth strategy for a large credit card issuer, including the design and deployment of an innovative business model involving a cross-border partnership between a Canadian, French and US partner
  • The development of a commercial lending strategy and review of the credit risk framework for a major regional bank.
Prior to joining Pivot, Olivier Foussard was Senior Manager with Ernst & Young in their Financial Services and Performance Improvement practice in Canada and US. He previously worked as a Senior Project Management Consultant with National Bank, leading several large-scale improvement programs including a company-wide cost optimization, PMO implementation and Basel II implementation initiative.

Olivier holds a MSc in Project Management from the Université de Montreal.
Jan Propeck
Jan is an associate partner of Pivot specializing in strategic planning, mergers & acquisitions, new product/market development, value improvement and international sourcing for the Industrial sector.

Jan has over 20 years of experience working with global leaders in manufacturing and process industries, including Bombardier, CAE, L3, Rio Tinto and Cascades. As an executive, a consultant and a supplier, Jan has extensive experience working with large multinational corporations to develop and implement major operational transformation initiatives. At Rio Tinto, he oversaw the development and implementation of strategies to improve value generated by Major Projects (>$1B) by 20%. At Bombardier and CAE, he led the strategic planning process and was responsible for implementing key strategic initiatives including mergers and acquisitions, manufacturing site strategy, after-sale service approach, Make-or-Buy strategy for critical components, etc…

Finally, Jan is also an entrepreneur. In 2012, he founded Ingenio Aerospace, an innovative technology firm specializing in the design and development of small electro-mechanical components for the Aerospace industry.

Jan holds a B.B.A from EGC, France, and a M.B.A. (Marketing / Quantitative Methods) from Université Laval, Québec, Canada.
