Michel Bernier, PhD

Michel is co-founder and managing partner of PIVOT STRATEGY, a boutique management consulting firm specializing in strategy for the Financial Services sector. With over 25 years of consulting experience in the financial services sector in Canada, the US and Europe, he brings together capabilities in strategy, business design and organization transformation, bridging the gap between strategy and execution.

Michel has advised business leaders of major asset managers/institutional investors, insurers and banks on a range of topics including growth strategies, M&A and partnerships, organizational design and operational effectiveness. Specifically, he has advised major asset managers on a range of topics including growth strategies, PE value-creation and alternate investment strategies and organizational effectiveness. Working with a major European institutional investor, he was instrumental in orchestrating a joint venture leading to the creation of a new global diversified financial services leader involving banking, insurance, asset management and real estate. He has also worked with major banks, insurers and wealth managers in the development of customer-driven strategies, product roadmaps and of innovative distribution models and digital capabilities.

Prior to founding PIVOT, Michel was Canadian Practice Leader and senior partner at Oliver Wyman Delta, senior vice president of strategic initiatives at Bell Canada and senior partner at SECOR.

Michel holds a PhD in industrial & organizational Psychology from l’Université de Montréal. He is also an accredited member of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D)

Jean-François Gagnon

Jean-François Gagnon is co-founder and partner of PIVOT STRATEGY, a boutique management consulting firm specializing in strategy for the Financial Services sector. He specializes in strategy, product and distribution innovation and operations.

Drawing on more than 20 year of experience, Jean-François has worked for leading financial institutions in Canada, the United States and Europe, developing a broad base of expertise across different areas including asset management, insurance, credit and prepaid cards, mortgages and mortgage insurance, retail & corporate banking and real estate. Specific expertise areas include holistic wealth management, integrating investments and insurance and the design of multichannel distribution models. In investment management, he was instrumental in the development of an innovative Insurance-linked security investment approach (ILS) and the creation of a specialized ILS Fund manager, in partnership with a major Canadian institutional investor. He also has extensive experience in designing operating models for major asset managers, including data management strategies to support investment teams.

Prior to founding PIVOT, Jean-François was with Oliver Wyman where he worked in the Financial Services and Organizational Transformation (Delta) practices. Before that, Jean-François was an investment and group benefits consultant with Mercer.

Jean-François is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and holds a bachelor’s degree honors from Concordia University.

Martin Leroux

Martin Leroux is a partner of PIVOT STRATEGY, a boutique management consulting firm, specializing in strategy for the Financial Services sector. Drawing on 30 years of experience in investment management, he specializes in the development of leading investment strategies for major pension funds, insurers and asset managers. Martin has comprehensive experience in investment management and has worked in a number of major investment-related organizations both in Canada and the US. Including: Strategic asset allocation and total fund management for PSP Investments, portfolio management and business development for FIDELITY’s institutional market and investment consulting with MERCER.

As a partner with PIVOT, he brings strong expertise to pension funds, insurance companies and institutional asset managers in the areas on strategic asset allocation, design of investment policies, business development and distribution strategies, investment managers’ evaluation and governance, alternate investment strategies, total fund management, asset-liability and risk management.

Martin Leroux is a Fellow of the Society of Actuary (FSA) and holds a B.Sc. in mathematics from the University of Montréal.

Marc Carrier

Marc Carrier is an associate partner of PIVOT specialized in group insurance and disability management. Marc is an actuary with over 30 years of experience in Group Benefits. As part of senior management within a major group insurer, he was responsible for leading and managing the underwriting and pricing of a multi-billion-dollar portfolio. He also has extensive experience in disability, having been responsible for managing operational efficiency and profitability for various insurers over the years. For multiple clients, he guided the development and deployment of new operating models and associated technology solutions including process redesigns, working in conjunction with leading global suppliers across the STD/LTD value chain.

Marc is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) and holds a bachelor’s degree from l’Université Laval

Edith Luc

Edith Luc, an associate partner of Pivot, is an internationally recognized author, speaker and consultant on the topic of shared leadership and team effectiveness. She specializes in the development of cultures of collaboration and the implementation of strategies that drive team and organizational performance. She has worked in a wide variety of leading national and international organizations in Canada, the US and Europe and has developed targeted expertise in the area of health management and digital health. Edith is a former associate professor at HEC Montréal’s Chaire de leadership Pierre-Péladeau and is currently a faculty member of the McGill Executive Institute.

Edith holds a PhD in Social Psychology from l’Université de Montréal

Normand Beauregard

Normand Beauregard is an associate partner of Pivot with over 25 years of experience specializing in defining customer experiences to support business strategy in a range of industries, including the financial sector. Specifically, he has led multiple initiatives involving strategic brand positioning, customer value proposition and customer loyalty strategies for major financial institutions in both Canada and Europe. He also has extensive experience designing processes and creating customer journeys that align with target experience in digital/omnichannel distribution environments.

Normand holds a BAC in Administration from l’Université de Sherbrooke
